Fear List | Prioritizing Myself

Me in Malaysia

My blog is changing. People are confused about what this website is really about. It’s about accountability.

A lot of the things I feared were within my control. It was either a mental, emotional or physical thing that kept me from doing the one thing I needed to do the most, which was to take care of myself. 40% of my problems stemmed from me helping others with their problems. That also includes their karma.

I wasn’t able to achieve my goals. I was focused on helping others achieve theirs while receiving no reciprocal support. I feared doing everything on my own, which sounds insane now. Since I was a child, I have been independent and unsupported.

Fear List was created to teach people that it’s okay to talk about that things you fear and by doing so, you take back your power. But there was something major I forgot to address.

In me talking about myself, it can come across as, “How is her story going to help me?” And because of this, there is a slight pivot to my posting. My entire journey, my whole life, I have been afraid to take care of myself. Why? Because I was never taught. And that’s uncomfortable for me. When I grew up, I was taught to be seen and not heard. I was taught to not make problems. and keep out of the way. I was taught to help others and that helping myself was braggadocios or selfish.

There was a lot of fear in my life surrounding Self-Care and that’s why I write so much about it. This doesn’t mean that I don’t still take care of others, when I can or am paid to do so, it means that I take care of me FIRST.

So moving forward, I’m going to go from a more general Fear List and less of a personal one.

And I hope that this tool will give you the support you need to put yourself first, unapologetically and fearlessly.

All my love,

Maya Lynne
